Zero field thermal demagnetization
Furnaces for zero-field thermal demagnetization (Pyrox)

Instrument description:
µmetal shielded furnaces for thermal demagnetization (from 20°C up to 700°C) of standard size discrete samples in zero-field.
Analyses performed with the instrument:
Zero-field thermal demagnetization (stepwise demagnetization). The remanent magnetization of samples is measured after each temperature step using high-homogeneity cryogenic magnetometer.

High-field thermomagnetic curves (Curie balance)
Variable field translation balance (VFTB, Mag-Instruments)

Instrument description:
Suspended magnet with a furnace into the polar pieces. The powder of samples is placed in a sample holder positioned into the furnace and submitted to a field gradient. The entire temperature spectrum from 20°C to 700°C can be investigated by heating and cooling cycles.
Analyses performed with the instrument:
Induced magnetization profiles versus temperature during heating and cooling. Can measure sediments, lava samples and archaeological baked clays.
